🌍✨ Yesterday marked Day 1 of Culture Week! ✨🌍
Our students of Asian and Arab heritage enjoyed an inspiring visit to the Midwifery Department at the University of Salford 🏥👶.
They explored the different pathways available after leaving school, discovered the vital role and responsibilities of a midwife, and learned about the exciting opportunities a career in healthcare can offer. 💙
The afternoon was packed with hands-on activities in the experience suites, where students listened to a “baby’s” heartbeat ❤️, practised changing nappies 🍼, and even learned life-saving CPR skills 🚑.
Meanwhile, back at school, students enjoyed a delicious break-time treat of samosas and bhajis! 😋🥟
What a fantastic start to Culture Week! 🌟

A huge well done to our amazing school rock band, The Def Katz, who delivered a fantastic performance on Saturday at Band on the Wall – one of Manchester’s most iconic live music venues! 🌟
The band took to the stage as part of One Education’s School Rocks event, showcasing their talent, confidence, and passion for music in front of a live audience. 🎵🔥

🌟 A milestone for inclusion at Cedar Mount Academy 🌟
We are delighted to announce that we have received Department for Education approval to expand our SEND provision.
This is fantastic news for our school, our Trust and, most importantly, for the children, families and communities we serve across Manchester.
Work will begin over the coming months to prepare for the first intake in September 2027. Watch this space! 👀

This week, our Year 10 Sports Studies students successfully completed their canoeing assessment at Debdale Outdoor Centre.
They were lucky to enjoy glorious weather, creating the perfect setting for a fantastic day out on the water! 🌊☀️
Throughout the session, students developed their canoeing techniques, learned new skills, and demonstrated excellent teamwork, resilience and determination. 💪👏
It was wonderful to see everyone challenge themselves, grow in confidence, and achieve so highly in their assessment.
🥇 We’re Gold! 🏆

Students have been putting their skills to the test in:
🏀 Basketball Shooting Challenge
🪢 Skipping Competition
🥏 Frisbee Challenges
We also hosted a brilliant Girls’ World Cup Tournament ⚽, which was fiercely contested from start to finish! After some fantastic matches, England were crowned champions 🥇, with Spain finishing as worthy runners-up 🥈.
Could this be a prediction of things to come? 👀🤞⚽
A huge congratulations to Ellysah, who was awarded the MVP (Most Valuable Player) trophy by Dr Warren for her outstanding performances throughout the tournament! 🌟👏
🌱 We’re proud that CMA was selected to take part in the RHS Seedling School Pilot, which concluded on 6 July.
Over the course of the project, 35 Year 8 students explored the connection between plants, wellbeing, and the environment. Through hands-on activities, they discovered how gardens function as living systems and learned the importance of shared responsibility by caring for a planter, generously donated to CMA.
The initiative included two inspiring RHS sessions at CMA, as well as a memorable visit to RHS Bridgewater. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to develop new skills, build confidence, and deepen their appreciation of the natural world. 🌿💚
