Transition

Mrs Breen

As the Assistant Vice Principal for Personal Development and Student Experience at Cedar Mount Academy, I bring 25 years of teaching experience across three secondary schools, having held a variety of roles during my career. I am deeply committed to the belief that Personal Development and Character Education are vital components of a well-rounded education, shaping our students into individuals who not only excel academically but also thrive as confident, compassionate global citizens. My core value is that every child has the potential to succeed, both in education and life, given the right guidance and support. At Cedar Mount Academy, we strive to create an environment where students feel safe, reflective, and empowered to prioritise their personal development as much as their academic achievements. We ensure that every student who walks through our doors is nurtured, both as an individual and as a learner, to embrace all opportunities for growth.

Mr Collard

Hi, I am the transition lead at Cedar Mount Academy, and I have the pleasure of ensuring your child has the best start to their new journey in High School. I am a PE, Dance and Maths teacher and have taught for 6 years. I have been working with primary students across Greater Manchester since September and have had the pleasure of meeting some talented ambitious students. Our vision at Cedar Mount is ‘The best for everyone, the best from everyone’ and this is at the heart of everything we do. We aim to make the transition process as exciting and stress free as possible and I look forward to meeting all new students and parents/carers.

Transition Programme

At Cedar Mount Academy, we understand that starting high school is both an exciting and challenging time for students and their parents or carers. To support a smooth transition, we work closely with our feeder Primary Schools to ensure that students are well-prepared for their journey with us. Our dedicated transition team, led by Mr. Collard, plays a key role in this process. Throughout the year, staff deliver a range of engaging sessions in primary schools, covering subjects such as Dance, PE, Drama, and Music. In addition, primary school students visit Cedar Mount Academy to experience life at high school firsthand. Mr. Collard and the team also host various transition community events, including Halloween movie nights, dance festivals, family nights, discos and sporting events. Keep an eye out for our invitations to these events, as they provide valuable opportunities for students and families to connect with our school community.

In the Summer term, we host our annual transition days to help Year 6 students prepare for and experience secondary school life. During these days, they will take part in a variety of subjects and events, giving them a taste of what to expect in September. We also invite parents and carers to attend our information evening, where we provide essential details to ensure a smooth start to the new school year.
