Flu Immunisations – Message from NHS Nurses

Dear Parent or Guardian,

Please accept our offer of a FREE flu vaccine for your child.

The nasal flu vaccine is safe and effective and offered every year to children to help protect them against flu.

The vaccination in most cases is given by a simple spray up the nose. For those parents/guardians who object to the nasal vaccine on the grounds of porcine gelatine content, an alternative vaccination (injection) is also available.

Please follow the link to complete the online consent form: Cedar Mount Academy Book Now

If you do not wish to take part, please ensure you complete the form to decline your child.

Any queries about the NHS national flu program, please telephone Intrahealth direct on 0333 358 3397 press option 1, option 4 and one of our specialised team will be happy to assist you further.

BeeWell Survey 2023

BeeWell is an organisation in Manchester that focuses on the mental health of young children in the region, it aims to find out what can be done locally to produce better outcomes for children whose mental health is declining.

Children from Year 10 at Cedar Mount have been invited to participate in a short survey during November which will take place in school. If you do not want your child to participate then please complete the non consent form on the letter that your child has brought home with them. BeeWell will ask a series of questions about their child’s mental health, their personal life and more importantly what makes them feel happy. For those children that do complete the survey, the data collected will be used to help identify opportunities for improving the lives and outcomes of young people across Manchester.

Year 11 Prom

After five years of hard work, the Year 11 Prom is finally here! This event is a significant milestone where students can celebrate with their year group before leaving for sixth form or college. We encourage all students in the year to attend because it will be a memorable night that you will cherish for the rest of your lives. Year 5 Design & Technology workshop

Year 5 students from Old Hall Drive had their first Design and Technology experience last week during a visit to CMA. Guided by Miss Tilby and Miss Moss, pupils learned how to handle tools and shape, cut, and drill holes in wood to construct a pen & pencil holder. Working in groups the CMA Ambassadors were on hand for support in case they were struggling. Assistant Vice Principal Miss Hatton (OHD) sent a delightful email to Miss Tilby today, expressing how much the students enjoyed the workshop and mentioned the rest of the class can’t wait for their visit to CMA in two weeks time.

AHM the CMA Way!

Asian History Month is always an exciting time at Cedar Mount, and as much as we try and capture it in pictures, there’s nothing like a film. Thank you to Miss Morris for editing a short film when she should have rested over the Easter break! So here it is, AHM CMA style! Enjoy!

Andrew Tate & His Misogynist Messaging

You may have seen this name pop up in the news, or you may have heard about him from your children. Find out who he is, why he’s in the news, the risks he poses and how to talk about him at home.

  • Andrew Tate is a misogynistic influencer who gained awareness in late summer 2022.
  • He has subsequently been banned by many major social media sites.
  • Misogyny can hurt people of all genders, not just those it directly attacks.

Tate’s influence on male students is “a big safeguarding issue” in schools so as a result Mr Platt, The Designated Safeguarding Officer at CMA has delivered additional safeguarding training to staff based on online misogyny. Parents may have seen his name pop up in the news, or they may have heard about him from their children. The below fact sheet will provide parents detailed information about who Andrew Tate is.

Asian History Month

Cedar Mount honoured Asian History Month with various activities and special lessons during March, culminating in students wearing traditional dress. Classroom doors were decorated with Asian heroes, the canteen cooked popular dishes, Miss Rizvi took time to teach students some of her tried and tested recipes in food tech, and KS3 have been learning about South Asian Dance styles such as traditional Kathak and modern Bhangra and developing their own choreography.
